The Urban Gear Story

Hi, I’m Matt, and together with Kimi and Eddy, we are the urban adventuring team behind The Urban Gear. We started as Shoes for Feets in 2016 with our incredible passion for urban adventuring, travelling, and exploring our own backyard. 

Our journey began bringing comfortable, supportive, stylish shoes and we have continued to add to a curated selection of everyday gear. Four years on, our goal is still to offer a single place for our fellow urban adventurers to get everything they need for their journey’s short and long. We knew from the start that as we grew our goal wouldn't change, but what we offered would. This is why we became The Urban Gear to let everyone know we carry more than just Shoes for Feets.

Based on the sunny Gold Coast, Australia’s outdoor-lovers paradise - we love exploring, whether in our own backyard or over land and seas - We’re always up for the adventure! We’ve been involved in the comfortable outdoor technical shoes and apparel game for over 15 years, so we know our stuff. 

Best of all – we live the lifestyle. 

We know how important it is to have stylish yet practical gear that fits well. Gear that can take you on sightseeing day trips and rugged inner-city adventures, straight through to dinner at a restaurant, or a show downtown.

No matter where your travels take you, excellent gear is essential to enjoy every day. We understand that a good grip, safety, technicality, and comfort are non-negotiables when it comes to all day, all-purpose gear. We also understand that style is paramount and not something that has to be sacrificed. None of us wants to look like ‘All the Gear and No idea’ when we’re on the adventure or out to dinner! We also don’t want to look like we’ve been living in the outback for the past five years without any sign of civilisation.

There’s nothing worse than having to squeeze your toes into a shoe that looks great but feels terrible because the shop doesn’t have the bigger size that you need. After years of struggling ourselves to find the right fit, we made it a point to provide both comfortable AND stylish shoes for all shapes and sizes. We offer a great selection of bigger sizes and wider fitting footwear (see our printable fit guide) that many other companies miss out on providing. Our big-footed customers come back again and again because we’ve got them covered.

We offer simple, straightforward, honest service and advice. Our shipping is a bonus of fast/cheap and we made the checkout system as simple as possible. We’re here to get you the gear you need, as swiftly and painlessly as possible.
